Makeup Forever: Product & Store Review

A few Fridays back, I had the opportunity to finally visit the Makeup Forever Proloft store in Toronto and let me tell you my experience was awesome! It truly aligned with what the brand is trying to offer which is “a unique shopping experience” and “being guided by experienced makeup artists who transmit their passion for makeup and their expertise on the products.” Before I go into the details of my experience, for all you makeup artists who were not aware, you can actually sign up for a pro card with this fabulous cosmetics brand and receive 40% off majority of their products. (some exceptions do apply)

Although the Makeup Forever brand is sold at various department stores and Sephora locations, the discount can only be applied at a boutique store. As you can see this is why I was thrilled that a stand alone store was located in Toronto!

The Proloft store was super easy to travel to. By subway I took the Bloor line up to Bloor/Yonge and went one stop southbound to Wellsley. I absolutely love the location they chose for their store as well! It’s off of Yonge on a quiet but trendy neighbourhood.

When I walked in there were 3 associates there to greet me who were very friendly and extremely helpful. At first, I was the only customer but that changed very quickly! I was surprised to see how many large product orders kept coming through in person or over the phone for their popular HD foundations and powders as well as other products. Needless to say even though they were really busy my associate spent over an hour helping me pick out all the items I was looking to add to my makeup kit. She was really patient and very knowledgeable in all of their products. Most of what she recommended I ended up buying!

I was only planning on buying 1-2 items but end up buying the following:

  • 3 lipsticks
  • 1 primer
  • 1 black acqua gel liner
  • 5 eye shadows

Feedback on Products Purchased

I ended up buying 2 creamy and 1 matte lipstick and was instantly impressed with how they felt on my lips. The matte lipstick did not feel dry and went on very smoothly.  I ended up wearing one that I tried on at the store for most of the day and it was very long lasting! I was really satisfied with the quality of their lipsticks. Once I removed the lipstick it also left no stain on my lips!! Bonus!! Price point after the discount was awesome too at only $18.40 per lipstick.

If you are interested in these shades, below are the codes beginning with left to right:

  • C405
  • M204
  • C106

Makeup Forever lipsticks

I have had my hands on many primers and I would have to say that hands down Makeup Forever has one of the best primers out there. It instantly hydrated my skin and had a matte finish. It was also colourless and absorbed right into my skin so perfect not just for my own use but for clients as well. I love how it made my skin feel!

Eye Shadows

It was really hard to choose which eye shadow to buy since all of them were beautiful. In the end I wanted to purchase colours that could be used universally on most skin tones and for bridal or party makeup looks!

Below are pictures of what I bought:

Gel Liner

I love love love the Makeup Forever gel liner. First off it has a creamy long lasting formula that is great for a smoky eye, a simple top liner or to outline around your eyes/waterline. It is also waterproof and finishes in a matte texture. It is perfect for everyday or if you want to create more of a dramatic look!

I love makeup forever powders and concealers. I’m definitely going to go and look at the lip sticks and other products. I have tried so many powders like Mac, Bobby Brown, Laurie Mercia etc.
